The Joyous Wedding of Ganesh & Shamila

The beautiful bride, Shamila, and the handsome bridegroom, Ganesh
My wife and I were recently invited to witness the matrimony of a beautiful couple – Ganesh and Shamila. Shamila’s father is a good friend of mine, Dato AK Nathan.

Let me tell you a bit about Dato AK Nathan even though I am sure you are already quite familiar with the background of this Malaysian tycoon.

Dato AK Nathan is the founder of Eversendai – a world class construction company that undertakes the construction of the steel structures of many of the world’s tallest buildings; some of his signature projects include KLCC, KL Tower, The Burj in Dubai, Trump Tower in Mumbai and many more. According to Forbes 2012, he was ranked as the 27th richest Malaysian with a net worth of USD300m. Dato AK Nathan is also the Honorary Advisor of the Branding Association of Malaysia.

There was a pre-wedding party, the Sangeet Night, hosted in Dato AK Nathan’s mansion two nights before the actual wedding function. He invited around a hundred plus relatives and special friends, and I was very honoured to be one of his guests. It was a most energetic party, with singing, dancing, eating and drinking nonstop all the way well past midnight.

The actual wedding function itself was spectacular. In order to cater to all of the relatives, business associates and friends who turned up to bless the couple, Dato Nathan took up the entire KL Convention Centre and hosted a feast for 2200 guests, many of whom came from all corners of the globe just to attend this momentous occasion.

The whole wedding function was quite a marathon, one which stretched from 9am to 6pm. The ceremony was a traditional Indian one, with rituals performed that were both interesting and educational for non-Indian guests such as myself. After the ceremony, the guests proceeded to a special lunch, where they were entertained by several fabulous performances.

The most exciting part, however, was when the bride and the bridegroom gave their speeches. The handsome Ganesh and beautiful Shamila were truly in love. The way they looked into each other’s eyes was so deeply affectionate that there was no mistake that they were truly made for each other. They are so very lucky to have found their true loves.

I offer my sincerest congratulations to Dato and Datin AK Nathan for a mission accomplished and a job well done. And to Ganesh and Shamila, I wish them everlasting happiness, prosperity and ‘productivity’. :D
